Fujitsu-Siemens S6010

I bought a Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook S6010 laptop in February 2003 and run Linux (Gentoo) on it.
Since using a laptop with Linux sometimes seems to be not so straight forward, I set up the Linux-4-S6010 Board.

General information about my version of this laptop:

  • Mobile Pentium III with 1 GHz
  • 256 MB RAM
  • 20 GB HDD (upgraded to 80 GB now)
  • Removeable 8x DVD / 16x10x24 CR-RW combo drive
  • Intel 830MG graphics on 13" 1024x768 display
  • SigmaTel AC97 audio
  • 56K V.90 modem
  • 10/100 ethernet (8139too)
  • bulti-in MiniPCI Wireless LAN (prism2-based)
  • touchpad with scroll-buttons
  • two USB ports
  • one firewire (IEEE1394) port
  • VGA Out
  • Infrared
  • one PCMCIA slot - plus a PCMCIA smartcard reader
  • five Security Buttons / Extra Keys

If you connect the port-replicator you also get a serial and parallel port.

Althought the laptop is not brand-new anymore and could certainly use some extra memory, I am quite happy with the Linux support of the components.
